Stikstofbalans met Japans team

Vorig jaar heb ik met Kentaro een mooie vogelklif uitgezocht. Dit jaar is hij terug met twee collega's om de nitrificatie, denitrificatie en de fotosynthese te kwantificeren in een gradiënt rond de vogelklif. Ik ga met ze mee als schipper en ijsbeerwacht. Het is inspireremd ze bezig te zien.
Ze bemonsteren de lucht in afgesloten potjes boven de vegetatie en nemen planten- en grondmonsters.

Het is een steile klif, rijzend 150 meter boven zeeniveau.

Rendieren zijn dol op het rijke gras. Op de achtergrond de nestelende drieteenmeeuwen. In totaal zitten er 400 broedparen.
Drieteenmeeuwen, gekleurd voor herkenning door wetenschappers.Ik vind een jong dat uit @eacute;én van de nesten is gevallen.
